My press has been trying to negotiate a contract with an e-book behemoth that shall not be named. This company is notoriously difficult to work with and has an absurdly high staff turnover, so my boss was unable to make a connection with any single authority in their department until just recently. Once the connection was made, things started to move much more quickly, and we are on our way to being able to provide our e-books to consumers of their e-reader.
Or, as the company delegate put it, my press has entered their company’s “ingestion pipeline.”
My department gagged and giggled about the terminology, which sounded unpleasantly gastrointestinal to us. But I suppose we shouldn’t have been too surprised: the company is known as a consumer focused business, after all.
